As a home birth midwife in Jacksonville, FL, serving families throughout Northeast Florida, I provide personalized, community-based midwifery care with full continuity of care throughout pregnancy, home birth, and postpartum—all in the comfort of your home. Families choosing a home birth receive comprehensive prenatal care, labor support, waterbirth options, and attentive postpartum follow-up.
Our comprehensive home birth package is $7,000 and includes in-home prenatal care, your planned home birth, and postpartum care. Your birth kit and use of our birth pool are included at no additional cost.
While we do not accept insurance directly, we offer a payment plan designed to help spread payments into the third trimester. To support families seeking insurance reimbursement, we have partnered with a billing company. While we collect our fee upfront, our biller provides a free verification of benefits (VOB) to help you understand how your insurance reimbursement may work. Lab tests and ultrasounds may be billed directly to your insurance.

Prenatal Care
A healthy pregnancy, labor, and birth are built on a foundation of excellent prenatal care. Our approach emphasizes supporting healthy pregnancies through evidence-based education, nutritional counseling, promoting physical activity, stress management, and mental wellness.
Prenatal care generally begins between 9 and 10 weeks of pregnancy. Your first prenatal visit lasts 60–90 minutes and includes a detailed health history and risk assessment to ensure you are a low-risk candidate for an out-of-hospital birth with a Florida Licensed Midwife. Subsequent visits typically last 45–60 minutes.
Our extended visits allow plenty of time to ask questions, address concerns, discuss natural ways to relieve common pregnancy discomforts, and monitor your pregnancy and your growing baby. Family and friends are always welcome to join your visits.

The cornerstone of our prenatal care is building a trusting relationship that carries through labor and birth, in line with the Midwives Model of Care™. This approach is fundamentally different from contemporary obstetrics, focusing on attentive, individualized support. Florida Licensed Midwives specialize in physiologic birth and cultivate strong, trusting relationships with their clients, helping them experience confident, supported labor and birth.

We follow the standard prenatal care schedule:
-
Every 4 weeks until 28 weeks of gestation
-
Every 2 weeks from 28 to 36 weeks
-
Weekly from 36 weeks until delivery
20-Week Ultrasound: For the required 20-week anatomy scan, we provide a referral to an imaging center of your choice. This scan ensures there are no placental or fetal concerns that would require additional care beyond what can be safely provided at home.

Florida Licensed Midwives cannot deliver multiples or breech babies.

Homebirth
During your prenatal appointments, we take plenty of time to discuss your vision for birth—what matters most to you, whom you’d like present, and how we can best support your preferences. We make every effort to honor your birth choices while keeping safety as our top priority.
Your midwifery team is on call 24/7 starting at 37 weeks until birth. Florida Licensed Midwives are legally authorized to attend births between 37 and 42 weeks of gestation.

Every birth unfolds uniquely, and labor can progress differently for each person. We stay in close communication with you and your support team to create a clear plan for when we should arrive at your home. When the time is right, your midwife and a trained birth assistant will come to you. Throughout labor, they provide continuous support, encouragement, and clinical assessment. You’ll be encouraged to eat, drink, and move freely, listening to your body and giving birth in whichever position feels most natural.

During labor, your baby’s well-being is monitored with intermittent assessments using a handheld fetal Doppler. If any concerns arise, your midwife keeps you fully informed and guides you through your options, helping you make confident, informed decisions about your care.
After delivery, you and your baby will enjoy immediate skin-to-skin contact with delayed cord clamping. Eye prophylaxis and vitamin K are available upon request, and you’ll have ample time during prenatal care to review and make informed decisions about these procedures. Except for a newborn exam performed in your presence at the foot of your bed, you won’t be separated from your baby.

Hiring a birth doula is strongly recommended, whether this is your first or fourth child. Doulas are a vital member of your birth team, providing emotional and physical support during early and active labor, as well as helpful postpartum care.

Postpartum Care
The 4th Trimester
The best-kept homebirth secret is postpartum recovery in the comfort of your own bed! Shortly after birth—depending on where your baby is born—our team will help you and your sweet baby get settled, cozy, and supported in bed.
Our top priority is always ensuring that both you and your baby are stable and doing well, a focus that continues throughout the immediate postpartum period. Equally important is supporting uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact—called the Golden Hour—while you’re surrounded by your loved ones. As you bond with and feed your baby, your birth team will make sure you stay hydrated and enjoy a nourishing, protein-rich meal.
Before we begin, we’ll walk you through each step of the postpartum plan so you know exactly what to expect. A complete head-to-toe newborn exam will be performed right beside you in bed. Our team typically remains with you for 2–3 hours after the birth to ensure that everyone is fed, cared for, and stable. Before we leave, we’ll tidy the birth space, start your laundry, and leave your family tucked in—ready to rest, recover, and savor those first precious hours together.

Your first postpartum visit will be scheduled between 24 and 36 hours after birth. During this visit, your midwife will assess your recovery, check on your baby’s feeding and growth, and address any questions or concerns you may have. With your informed consent, we’ll also complete two newborn screenings: the CCHD Screening (Critical Congenital Heart Disease) and the Florida Newborn Screening. In addition, we will file your baby’s birth certificate and Social Security card on your behalf.
We’ll review what to expect in the coming weeks and discuss any warning signs that may require additional support. Follow-up postpartum visits are typically scheduled around days 5–7 (if needed), at 2 weeks, and again at 6 weeks. These visits are dedicated to monitoring your transition into postpartum life and ensuring that both you and your baby are thriving. We discuss concerns related to postpartum mood, including the possibility of postpartum depression or anxiety. At the final postpartum visit, we can perform a Pap test and discuss family planning options if you wish.

We’re always here to answer your questions, address concerns, and provide referrals for lactation support, pelvic floor therapy, emotional health resources, and more. In addition to scheduled visits, we’re available for phone calls, messages, or extra in-person check-ins as needed.
Our goal is to continue supporting you with individualized care throughout the fourth trimester.
